WTP is a women-focused, collaborative, and rigorous residential program at MIT designed to empower students from groups historically underrepresented in engineering by providing hands-on exposure to the field.
The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week residential summer academic experience designed to introduce female high school rising seniors to engineering. The program focuses on hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects. Students can choose between two tracks: Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) or Mechanical Engineering (ME). The EECS track introduces students to computer science and electrical engineering, covering topics like binary logic, proof techniques, probability, algorithms, combinational and sequential logic, transistors, and filtering. The ME track delves into fundamentals such as statics, materials, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, engineering ethics, and design and manufacturing. Both tracks emphasize active learning, group problem-solving, and culminate in significant projects, such as designing and building multi-step machines for a Rube Goldberg Challenge or presenting a poster project on a topic of interest. The program aims to spark interest in engineering among students with little to no prior exposure to the field, empowering those from groups historically underrepresented in STEM.
Daily classes run Monday-Friday from approximately 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening hours, and include classes, labs, and homework, along with social time and some weekend academic field trips and social outings.
The program is best for female high school rising seniors who excel in math and science, have little to no prior engineering experience, and are curious about exploring the field in an intensive academic environment.

Boston STEM Summer Camps is a free directory service that aggregates publicly available information about STEM programs, summer camps, and educational opportunities. We do not operate, sponsor, endorse, accredit, certify, or have any affiliation with the camps and programs listed here unless explicitly stated.
All program details — including pricing, session dates, instructor credentials, curriculum, safety policies, refund terms, transportation, meal arrangements, and admission requirements — are sourced from publicly available information and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Listings are partially generated and updated using automated AI-assisted research, which can occasionally produce inaccurate details. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for independently verifying every detail directly with the camp before enrolling, paying, or relying on any information shown here.
We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, suitability, safety, quality, availability, or fitness for any particular purpose of any camp, program, or information shown on this site. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind — including but not limited to financial loss, missed sessions, refund disputes, injury, child safety incidents, transportation issues, dissatisfaction with educational outcomes, or any other harm — arising from your use of this directory or your decision to enroll a child in any listed program. Your use of this site constitutes acceptance of these terms.
